Irene Elizabeth (Nelson) Hirschy, 81, beloved wife of William Paul Hirschy, passed away peacefully Jan. 1, 2014, at her residence with family by her side. A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at the Eternal Hills Chapel.
She was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Tulelake, Calif., to Dave and Vivian Nelson. She spent the majority of her life in the Klamath Basin, where she met Bill while she was employed at the Esquire Theater. She and Bill were married Aug. 31, 1952, in Reno and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. She cherished time spent with her extended family and especially watching over and caring for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many others. She volunteered countless hours for the VFW
and Klamath Senior Center.
Survivors include husband, Bill Hirschy; daughters, Lynne Hamel, Eagle Point; Sandy (Doug) Peters Sublimity; son, Dennis (Billie) Hirschy; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother, Richard Nelson of Klamath Falls; sister, Betty Askins of Hartsville, S.C. and special niece, Linda (Paul) Braden of Klamath Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Memorial contributions can be made to the Klamath Senior Center. Eternal Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
