Jean Ada Sample, 82, died in Klamath Falls, Ore., April 23, 2014. A memorial service of tribute and love will be at 3 p.m. in Hope Lutheran Church Sunday, April 27, 2014, with Pastor Lou Schneider officiating. A reception will follow at Luther Square. . Jean was born Nov. 27, 1931, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Arnett and Grace Serviss, the second of eight children. The family moved to Kalama, Wash., and then she came to Klamath Falls when she was 14 to work at Tulana Farms. She married Erv Ronningen Jan. 8, 1948, in Vancouver, Wash., and they had three sons, Edward, Kenneth and Tracy. Even though that marriage ended, they still remained friends and raised their sons together. After moving to Crescent and Lakeview and returning to Klamath Falls, she married Herman Sample in 1973 and they had a daughter, Katherine Grace. She later moved to Medford before she returned in 2011 to Klamath Falls, where she resided at Luther Square. She worked hard all of her life as a waitress and bartender until she broke her hip when she was 72. Jean loved being with people and was very giving and trusting of everyone. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to casinos. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tracy and Jan Ronningen and Kenny and Ramona Ronningen; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Alec Stuart; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and June Serviss and John and Karen Aho; sister, Helen Schultiss; grandchildren and spouses, Kenny and Karolyn Ronningen, Jr., Ed and Kat Ronningen, T.J. Ronningen and Dale Brugh, Kevin and Vicki Ronningen, Kelly and Brian Green, Isaiah, Trinity and Malachi Stuart, Kim Bolton and Troy and Jennifer Mitchell; and great-grandchildren, Latisha Ronningen, Logan Ronningen, Timmy and Chase Ronningen, Elliot Green, Emmah Jean Ronningen, Kaylyn and Makayla Mitchell, and Haleigh Rust. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Erv Ronningen and Herman Sample; son, Eddie Ronningen; brothers, Frank Serviss and George Serviss; and grandson, Richard Ronningen.
