Kenneth G. Arne, 70, died of natural causes Oct. 13, 2012, in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Born in Prairie City, Ore., he graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Klamath Falls, Ore., earned a bachelor's degree in mining engineering from Montana School of Mines and an MBA from Stanford University.
Ken worked for various mining, petroleum, banking and consulting firms in the U.S. and internationally and was a resident of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. At the time of his death, he was a policy advisor to the Afghanistan Ministry of Mines.
Ken was an active Rotarian
for many years and served as the president of the Bishkek Rotary.
He is survived by his wife Luidmila, her daughter Vera (Caglar Guney) and new grandson Teoman, whom he recently visited in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He also is survived by his daughter Melissa (Jeff) and granddaughter Hazel of Milwaukie, Ore.; son Christopher (Denise) of Denver, Colo.; brother Michael (Cathe) of McKinney, Texas; and siblings Mary Ecklund of Kansas City, Mo., Dick Noud of Klamath Falls, Ore., Jim Noud of Boise, Idaho, and Marian Massey of Portland, Ore.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time.
