Roy Ford Sr.
Roy Dee Ford Sr., 84, went home to be with the Lord Dec. 27, 2013, at his home in Klamath Falls.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, in First United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the national cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore.
Roy was born on July 13, 1929, in Pagosa Springs, Colo., to Orrin and Mildred (Davis) Ford. He graduated from Pagosa Springs High School in 1949 and joined the Navy. He married Nadine Faye Smart Oct. 14, 1951, in Pagosa Springs.
He served as an aircraft mechanic on carriers in the Navy during both the Korean and Vietnam war
s. Retiring from the Navy in 1968 and settling in Oregon, Roy worked for the Oregon State Highway Department until 1989. While employed and retired, he worked tirelessly for the OPEU.
Roy liked fast cars, motorcycles, and ATVs. He enjoyed hunting, rock hounding, taking pictures, and traveling. Roy was active in the Rock and Arrowhead Club as an officer and an active member of the First United Methodist Church. He had a great sense of humor and always tried to make life fun. The happiest times of his life were spent with family.
He is survived by his wife, Faye; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Jr. and Sue Ford of Aurora, Colo., Ralph and Debbie Ford of Medford, Ore., and Don and Sue Ford of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren, Angie Bare, Felicia Wilson, Rachel James, April Ford, Sarah Ford and Will Ford; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Leona Morris of Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Cornelia Crouse and Majorie Hurt.
He was a kind and generous man and will be missed by all who knew him.
