James Frank Coburn Sr., 78, died in a local hospital on Friday, May 10, 2013.

He was born on Nov. 30, 1934, to Frank James Coburn and Peral Shadley in Chiloquin Agency.
He attended the University of Oregon and received a business of associate degree in 1959.
He graduated from Chemawa Indian School in 1953.
He joined the U.S. Coast Guard and was discharged as a petty officer 2nd class in San Diego, Calif., in 1957.
He married Thelma Marie Jackson on April 7, 1954.
James worked as a truck driver and dispatcher for East Texas Motor Freight. He later worked as a liaison officer for the Seven Tribes of Warm Springs, retiring in 2005.
Survivors include his a son and daughter-in-law James Frank and Diana Marie Coburn Jr. of Lowell, Ore.; daughters Tish Willene Coburn of Portland, Phyllis Denise Coburn of Portland, and Brenda Kay and Andrew Jensen of Anchorage, Alaska; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Noble Howard Coburn and his wife Thelma.
Services are pending and Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd is in charge of arrangements.
