Joanne "Josie" Vokach passed away Feb. 9, 2013, in Fall River Mills, Calif. She was 86 years old.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Malin Community Presbyterian Church. Committal will follow at Malin Cemetery. O'Hair Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Josie was born to Helen and Walter Smith in Inglewood, Calif., on Dec. 11, 1926. She was a lifelong resident of the Tulelake area. Josie attended grade school in Merrill and graduated from Tulelake High School in 1944. She also attended the University of Oregon for a short time.
She worked as an editor for the Tulelake Reporter and also for the Herald and News. She later worked for Bill Ganger Insurance in Tulelake.
Josie enjoyed traveling with her husband Keith in their fifth wheel to Arizona and Southern California and also loved to garden and bake. She was an avid reader. Josie and Keith also enjoyed several Alaska cruises and trips to Hawaii and Washington, D.C., Cooperstown and Boston. She was a member of her local bridge club for over 40 years and a longtime member and past-president of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Keith "Snap" Vokach of Tulelake, her son Dr. Dan Dahle of Muck Valley and daughter Carol Stiles and son-in-law Everett Stiles of Anthem, Ariz. She is also survived by four grandchildren David Dahle, Dennis Dahle, Dr. Danielle Dahle and Kori Stiles, her sister-in-law Eileen Reynolds and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her mother and step-dad Helen and Walter Reynolds and her brother Dan Reynolds preceded her in death.
