Arkus Max Bray passed away Dec. 24, 2012, in Klamath Falls, Ore., with family at his side.
He was born July 20, 1920, in Andalusia, Ala.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from September 1940 to October 1945.
He moved his family to Klamath Falls in July 1948. He was employed at Calpine Plywood, Johns Manville, B&B Electric and various electrical contractors
He was a 50-year member of Local 659 IBEW Electrical Union, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
Arkus is survived by Mary, his wife of 66 years; daughter Sandy (John) Lovelady of Corvallis, Ore.; granddaughters Jenna Lovelady of Portland, Ore., and Susan Lovelady of Corvallis; grandsons Tim (April) Hamblin of Klamath Falls, John (Peggy) Lovelady of Ohio and Michael Lovelady of Washington; and great-grandchildren Spencer Bray Hamblin of Klamath Falls and Haly Lovelady of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and six siblings.
He was laid to rest at Klamath Memorial Park with full military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Pelican Post No. 1383 and volunteers from Disabled American Veterans and the Marine Corps League. Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd was in charge of arrangements.
Arkus was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a fighter to live life until his departure on Christmas Eve. He was a hero to his family and a true war hero for all and truly a man to aspire to be more like and admire for the individual he was.
Grandpa, your stories and love will be remembered forever.
