Daniel J. Murphy
Daniel J. Murphy, a resident of Klamath Falls, passed away Aug. 18, 2013, at the age of 78.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 26, in O'Hair Funeral Chapel. Services will be conducted by his niece Mary Calhoun. Interment will follow the chapel service at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Daniel was born in Klamath Falls Dec. 27, 1934, to Jerry and Nellie (O'Sullivan) Murphy. He spent his life in the Basin, living in Merrill, Macdoel, and Klamath Falls. Daniel attended St. Martin's College for several years before being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Afterward, he spent his working years as a farmer. He enjoyed dancing, watching football, and Sunday morning breakfasts. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his sisters Nancy Schultz of Redding, Calif., Theresa Calhoun of Wenatchee, Wash., and Patricia Coulson of Klamath Falls.
He is survived by his sisters Joan Maechling of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Julianne Dalton of Redding; his son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Brenda Murphy of Portland, Ore.; daughter and son-in-law Moira and Mike Buckley of Portland; and grandchildren Madeline, Bailey, and Helen Murphy and Piper, Lily, and Jack Buckley. He is also survived by the love of his life Delberta Daniel of Klamath Falls.
