Deborah Sue Sturgeon passed away in Portland, Ore., on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the age of 59 after a seven-year battle with cancer.
The Guest Book is expired.
Debbie was born on Nov. 9, 1952, in Klamath Falls to Eugene and Sue Olp. She was a resident of Klamath Falls her entire life, graduating from Klamath Union High School in 1970.
Debbie married her husband Hal Sturgeon in August 1971 and they spent the next 40 years loving each other and their four children.
She worked a variety of jobs over her life from a high school counselor, real estate agent, DHS visitation supervisor, and finally executive assistant for Jeld-Wen. However, her biggest role and love was the raising of her children and then her grandchildren. She took great pride in her kids and played an intricate role in their growth as family members, friends, and human beings.
Debbie is survived by her husband Hal Sturgeon; sons Tony, Chad and Ky Sturgeon; daughter Tenille Sayer; parents Eugene and Sue Olp; sisters Cyndi Kallstrom and Beth Engstrom; and her six grandchildren Isabel, Boden, Collin, Wyatt, Cole and Jackson.
There will be a memorial service in Klamath Christian Center on Thursday, June 14, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, it was Debbie's wish to have donations made to DHS Kids Fund, which serves foster children in Klamath and Lake counties, to help fund expenses for a variety of needs. The donations are tax-deductible and should include your name and address and be mailed to DHS, 700 Klamath Ave., Klamath Falls, OR 97601. For more information, call Jill Sipes at 541-850-3618.
