After moving to Klamath Falls with her family in 1974, she attended Brixner Junior High School, Mazama Mid-High School and graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1980.
She was a great fan of the rock music of the day and she and her best friend Jeane loved the Bay City Rollers Band and the music and dress from John Travolta movies. After the economic slowdown in the area, Debra and Kevin decided to move their family to the Tri-Cities in Washington area and later to Walla Walla, Wash., where they both began working for Albertson's Markets. Debra and her husband left Albertson's and operated their own business in Walla Walla for a short time called Winsom's Foods
