Gail DeForrest Sigmund, 85, died Feb. 19, 2013 at his home in Klamath Falls. Gail was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Hettinger, N.D., to Jacob and Ethel Kammerdeiner Sigmund. His family lived there until he was nine when they moved to Bend, Ore.
At the age of 18, Gail joined the Army Air Corps. He married his loving wife Marilyn Hanshew Dec. 26, 1950 in Bend, Ore. In 1959 they moved to Klamath Falls, where they raised a family of three boys and one girl.
Gail will be remembered most by his gentleness and kindness. His favorite activities were family reunions, writing poetry and playing cards and board games. Gail enjoyed fishing, playing golf and he sang in a Barbershop Quartet.
Gail is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, sister Donna Hull of Bend, Ore., children Randall Sigmund of Henderson, Nev., Robert Sigmund of Redmond, Ore., Jennifer Gribling-Brown of Bend, Ore. and Nicholas Sigmund of Klamath Falls, Ore., 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Gail and his sister were the only surviving children of Jacob and Ethel.
There will be a public visitation 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the Klamath Tribute Center, 6420 S. Sixth St. A service of tribute and love will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Klamath Tribute Center, Ernie Mathis officiating. A reception and interment will follow.
