Hi Vickie & family! Yesterday, September 9, 2019, Gil had a birthday. A reminder came up on my personal phone. Since Gil had such a wonderful touch on my life, I just have to post this message. Yes, Gil, I still use your baseball analogies at work, just as you first shared with me. Also, I am continuing keep some of your quotable quotes alive and well -- with a smile on my face. In fact, I still smile over your self-deprecating humor. I use some of your humor material when I want to lighten up the room. And I think about the sweetness and soft smile when you spoke about your bride, Vickie. Well, I will still take in a baseball game from time to time in your memory, and will share our story the last time we watched a Volcanoes game together. I know you're still enjoying playing the game from the other side while we watch over and help loved ones. Cheers to you for your birthday! :)

I can't begin to tell why Gil came to my mind tonight, January 11, 2015, because I don't know. I met Gil during our early careers. I was teaching 4th grade in the David Douglas School Distict and Gil was visiting classrooms speaking about dental health, passing out toothbrushes and little blue pills that when chewed showed where the teeth were not properly brushed. The last time I saw Gil and Vicki was in Klamath Falls when visiting my parents I went to their house and gifted them with a snowsuit for their first son. It is truly amazing how God places people in my life who made a lasting impression. Gil was a friend in the early 70s who made me laugh, introduced me to great pizza, good movies and books. Also, he introduced me to my dentist of many years, Dr. Flach. I am truly sorry for your loss. God bless you, Gil's sweet family. Mary Lynn Cloud Filler

Vickie~My deepest condolences to you my friend at the loss of Gil. Even though I didn't really know him I have heard he was a one of a kind special man. I am not surprised because you are that type of a woman, too. You are so strong, but I want you to know that I am here to help you in any way I can.

Knew & met Gil when I first came to Linfield College in the late '60s. He was on the same floor & same dormitory ("New Dorm") as myself. He was always a nice and friendly guy. It was also nice seeing him a number of times (in the past years) during school College re-unions on campus). So sorry to hear about his passing. I wish the best for his immediate family. Gil will be missed.

Gil,
You are one of a kind and you truly touched my life with your presence! I will be forever blessed and greatful for every moment I got to spend with you. You and Vickie are two of the most special people I know!

I loved working with you and I was so sad when you retired a few years ago. Work for me has never been the same. You and Vickie kept our annual lunch tradition going even though you were retired. You would keep it a secret of where we'd meet and surprise us the day of our lunch as part of that tradition. It was a different restaurant each year. On our way back from lunch we got to ride in your Trans-Am with the t-tops off listening to Jimi Hendrix, What a blast!

Both of you took me to my first and only baseball game at the Volcanoes Stadium, and the Volcanoes won their home game that day. I had such a great time and we had the best seats in the house behind home plate. I thought I was going to buy up every Volcanoes Souvenir in the shop...LOL

Gil, you I would talk about our 49ers and San Francisco Giant's from time to time. If they were having a bad season, it didn't matter to us because we knew they would come back stronger the next season. As true fans we never gave up on them.

You and Vickie came to see me in the hospital like you said you would and it meant the world to me. I didn't know it would be the last time I'd see you. Just by being there, I felt much better and that's one more memory I will have forever…

Gil, I can't believe I will never see you again...So I won't believe it! I know that one day I will see you again in Heaven. You're in a happy place now with our Lord Jesus Christ….Until we meet again Gil….

All my love to you today… and always…...
Christina

My heart goes out to Gil's family. I knew him from work in Klamath Falls. Gil was so intelligent and funny. He was a wonderful man and he left this world too soon.
