Longtime Klamath Falls resident Irina Karnaugh passed away Feb. 26, 2014, after a long and very brave fight with cancer of the appendix. Irina was born in Oakland, Calif., Oct,7, 1946. In 1972, she married Ronald Easton, and they raised their two daughters, Naomi Easton and Nicole Salakhov in Klamath Falls. Irina worked as a librarian, tax preparer and bookkeeper and retired in 2011 from Klamath Open Door Family Practice. She also volunteered as a bookkeeper for her favorite charity, Amazon Promise. She loved to spend her time doing all kinds of needlework, reading and working in her garden. Her claim-to-fame was being able to read and knit at the same time, and many friends and family were fortunate enough to have their feet warmed by her amazing socks. Irina is survived by her mother, Barbara Fricke; sisters, Antonina Karnaugh and Elena Thomas; brother, David Fricke; sons-in-law, Rich Gallagher and Oleg Salakhov; "Her Girls" daughters, Naomi Easton and Nicole Salakhov; and granddaughters, Holland Gallagher and Aimee, Annie and Abigail Salakhov. According to her wishes, no formal ceremony will be had, but some of her friends will be gathering at her former house at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at 432 High St. to remember her grace and kindness. Donations in her honor can be made to Amazon Promise at amazonpromise.org. She will be forever missed.
