Ryan Kenneth Maxwell, 40, passed away July 10, 2013, in Vancouver, Wash.
Ryan was born June 14, 1973, in Klamath Falls, Ore., and graduated from Mazama High School in 1991. He became a Scout Sniper with the U.S. Marine Corps and most recently worked for BNSF Railroad as a train conductor.
Ryan was an avid golfer, winning multiple amateur golf tournaments. He loved to fish and hunt for salmon, steelhead, deer and elk. Let's just say he used a lot of vacation. Although he was excellent with a rifle, he preferred to use his bow. And when he volunteered to cook, you knew you were in for an outstanding meal. Nobody made a better tri-tip and gravy.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and loyalty, but most of all for a personality that could turn a room full of strangers into a room full of friends.
Ryan is survived by his mother Patti Harrell of Atchison, Kan.; father Rick Maxwell and step-mother Karen Maxwell of Klamath Falls; brother Travis Maxwell of Vancouver; sisters Brandi Cripe of Meridian, Idaho, and Amanda Maxwell of Tacoma, Wash.; step-sisters Dena Sandercock of Medford, Ore., and Brenda Hagge of Klamath Falls; his many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his lifelong friends, who also were family to him.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Ralph Maxwell, Lois Turner, John McEnulty and Helen Schloer, and cousin Taron Kuhlman.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at O'Hair Funeral Chapel, 515 Pine St., Klamath Falls.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ryan Maxwell Benefit Fund can be made at any Columbia Bank Branch (mail to Columbia State Bank 15820 SE Happy Valley Town Center Drive, Happy Valley, OR 97608,) or a donation to a
in honor of Ryan would be appreciated.
