Sharon Sue Cogburn, a 66-year-old longtime Dorris resident, passed away May 4, 2013, at her home in Dorris.

Sharon was born Nov. 6, 1946, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to Bennie and Ruby Adamec and moved to Siskiyou County when she was in elementary school. She attended and graduated from Butte Valley High School. Soon after, she married Roy Collins and went on to attend University of Oregon for a couple of years. After she and Roy divorced, she moved back to Butte Valley and, in 1972, married Donald Cogburn. He passed away April 26, 1998.
She retired from the Butte Valley schools, where she worked as a cook in the cafeteria for some 30 years. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Dorris and was always helping out around the community. She was a member of the Dorris Lions Club, the Butte Valley Seniors and the Red Hatters. She was very involved in the building of the new Butte Valley Community Center. She enjoyed playing bunco, fishing and scrapbooking.
Sharon is survived by two children Michelle Clem of Yreka, Calif., and Lance and Carla Cogburn of Monroe, Ore.; two sisters Sally and Allen Pruitt of Wilder, Idaho, and Shirley and Sarah Adamec of Hillsdale, Mich.; three brothers Jerry Adamec of Dorris, Ronnie and Treva Adamec of Coos Bay, Ore., and Richard and Geraldine Adamec, also of Coos Bay; and four grandchildren Jake, LaTosha and Wyatt Clem and Andrew Cogburn.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Sandy Adamec.
A celebration of life memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Butte Valley Community Center in Dorris.
