He was born March 26, 1928, to William Oscar Trent and Bashti Kate (Owens) Trent.

He retired from the Air Force in 1972 after serving his country for 22 years. He then worked for the post office for 18 years. On March 16, 1996, he married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Winter, who survives him. He is also survived by his step-sons Douglas Winter and Damon Winter and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bashti Trent, his father William O. Trent Sr., brother Howard, and sisters Freda and Jeannie.
