David Leon Jackson was born to Leon and Eva Jackson on May 12, 1942, at his grandparents home in Eureka Spring, Ark. He was reunited with his father and his wife on March 10, 2014, in Tulelake, Calif,, following a short fight with cancer. With him at the time of his passing were his mother, Eva; his son, Jay; and his friend, Bertie. David started school at Carr School and moved in the fourth grade to Winema Grade School and then to Tulelake High School, where he quit in his junior year and joined the Army, where he studied for his GED. On leave after basic training, he and Barbara Ann Klar were married in Alturas, Calif. They had two sons David (Jay) and Vincent Scott. David spent six years in the Army during the Vietnam era, serving his country at Fort Lenardwood, Mo., Fort Bragg, N.C., and in Germany. He worked for Bill Gasser until Bill's death, and then operated his own equipment until his heart problems forced him to sell and retire. David is survived by his son, David Jay and wife, Carol and grandchildren, Zachary and Kelly; son, Vincent Scott and girlfriend, Tonya; mother, Eva of Klamath Falls; brothers, Ronald (Sherry) Jackson of Klamath Falls and Donald (Nancy) Jackson of Marysville, Calif.; numerous nephews and their spouses; mother-in-law, Pearl Klar; and sister-in-law, Lana Klar. At David's request, there will be no public services.
