Memorial services for James T. "Jim" Welch will be held from the chapel of Ward's Klamath Funeral Home Friday, April 25, 2014, at 3 p.m. with Patrick Stroup officiating. Jim will be inurned with military honors and his wife, Charlotte at Eagle Point National Cemetery at a date to be announced. Disposition was by Pyramid Cremations. Jim was a native son born and raised in Klamath Falls. He was born Aug. 28, 1931, to James and Anna Faye (Grizzle) Welch. He was schooled in Klamath Falls, graduating from Klamath Union High School in 1949. He married the former Charlotte Potter in Nevada May 29, 1951. Jim was a career soldier, serving with the United States Army for almost 20 years. After three re-enlistments, he was honorably discharged as a chief warrant officer in 1975. He attended military intelligence school and the IBM school. He was an AARP tax preparer volunteer from 1995 until 2009. He also served as the veterans service officer for Klamath County. Jim loved his family and enjoyed electronics, crossword puzzles, reading, Dixieland music, RVing and fishing. Those wishing to do so may send contributions in memory of Jim to any local military veterans organization. He is survived by his daughter, Jody J. Slaton of Klamath Falls; his granddaughters, Kristy Mixon in Florida and Rachel Ireland and Corie Rasdal, both of Klamath Falls; four great-grandchildren; and his significant other, Glenda Franke, also of Klamath Falls. In addition to his wife, Charlotte, he was preceded in death by his son, James E. Welch. Ward's Klamath Funeral Home, 541-882-4404, is in charge of the arrangements.
