Calvin Joseph Andrews, 89, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at his residence in Klamath Falls, Ore. Calvin was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He was raised in both Southern and Northern California. He served in the military from 1942 to 1946 as a Marine. He met and married his wife Mary Moreno in 1946 in San Diego, Calif. Calvin dedicated his time to the jail ministry in San Quentin, Pelican Bay and Folsom Prison for a total of 25 years. His wife Mary held support groups in her home for ladies who were released from jail. In 1992, Calvin and Mary moved to Oregon, and Calvin is remembered for being the founder and director of Ambassadors for Christ, a Christian Jail Ministry in Klamath County. He worked in and retired from the heating and air conditioning business after 40 years. He enjoyed being an amateur radio operator. Calvin is survived by his grandchildren, Joseph, Sara, Jesse, Marc, Mathew, Jessica, Amy and Aaron and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Andrews; sons, Calvin J. Andrews II, and Joseph J. Andrews and daughter, Sophie J. Andrews. At Calvin's request, there will be no formal services. His cremains will be inured in Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Ore., along with his beloved wife.
