Ledora Ann Hampton was born on Aug. 2, 1934, in Orofino, Idaho. She passed away on March 26, 2012.
She graduated from Orofino High School in 1951 and Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane, Wash., in 1954. She was a dedicated nurse who worked in a variety of settings, including traveling nurse assignments that took her to Florida, South Carolina, and Arizona, before finally retiring from nursing after 57 years on April 1, 2011.
She was married to Thomas Eugene Hampton in 1956 and lived in Klamath Falls, Ore. They had four children. They operated a commercial refrigeration business, Tom's Refrigeration, for many years. They were divorced in 1990.
Ann moved to Corvallis in 1982, then to Portland in 1987 to obtain her BS degree in nursing at Oregon Health & Science University.
She loved to travel and, with her partner Bob, took many memorable trips.
She had a passion for dancing, square dancing, golfing, pinochle, gardening and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished her many friends. Her generosity and caring enriched the lives of all she met. This lovely lady will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her longtime partner Robert Trippel; her children and their partners Sheryl and Ben Johnson, James and Erin Hampton, Kenneth Hampton and Tammy Saldana, and Kimberly Petersen; grandchildren Patrick Petersen and Crystal Kerns, Korina and Frank Pena, Halie Petersen, and Samantha Hampton; great-grandchildren Lilliann Pena, Laynee Petersen, Ryker Kerns and Pierce Petersen.
A celebration of Ann's life will be held at Eternal Hills Funeral Home on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 2 p.m.
