Richard "Dick" Allen Heiney, 83, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, in Klamath Falls, Ore.

He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Oct. 25, 1928, and came to Tulelake in 1932 when his father Roy C. Heiney drew a homestead.
This homestead is still in the Heiney family and has produced crops every year except in 2001 when the irrigation water was shut off for the survival of the sucker fish.
Dick was drafted by the Army in 1953 and served in Korea as a sentry dog trainer/handler vet tech until 1955.
He served as a director on the boards of Newell Grain Growers Association, Newell Potato Co-op, and Tulelake Irrigation District for many years.
Survivors include his wife Wilma of 56 years, their three sons and five grandchildren Bob and Violet with Wesley, Bill and Rhonda with Brooke and Andrew Smith, 2nd Lt. Jared in the Army, and Allen with Chad and Daniel. He is also survived by his nephew Richard and niece Janice.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert.
Final services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 4 p.m. at Klamath Memorial Park with Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd in charge of arrangements.
