William "Bill" Frank McKoin was born July 27, 1933, in Amarillo, Texas. He passed away Oct. 1, 2012, in Klamath Falls, Ore., in the arms of his wife of fifty-seven years, Wanda June Cantrell McKoin. His last words to Wanda were "you're so beautiful - you're so beautiful - you're so beautiful," a memory she will forever cherish.
Bill is survived by two sons Michael David McKoin of Lancaster, Pa. and Mark Andrew McKoin of San Jose, Calif.; four grandchildren Matthew Daniel McKoin of Tempe, Ariz., Nicole Marie Lorber of Furlong, Pa., Jacqueline Elaine Crespin of San Diego, Calif. and Ashley Michelle McKoin of Tempe, Ariz.; five great-grandchildren Adrianna Marie McKoin and Victoria Mae McKoin of Tempe, Ariz., Grace Marie Crespin of San Diego, Calif., Amelia Patton Lorber and Olivia Charles Lorber of Furlong, Pa.; brothers Bobby and Charles McKoin of Louisiana; sisters Nadine David of Louisiana and Amelia Hales of California; half-brothers Fred and John Atencio of New Mexico.
Bill was a wonderful, loving husband and lifelong best friend to his wife Wanda. They met and married in 1955, she a new high school graduate, and he a young U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant. They grew up together while raising their two sons. He was a devoted and loving family man who mentored his sons to become good men as well as responsible citizens and loving family men in their own right. Bill, Wanda, Michael and Mark spent their time together camping, traveling, participating in sports and numerous educational activities as well as any form of activity that piqued any one of their individual interests. He was further blessed with like quality time and activities with his four beloved grandchildren.
Chief Master Sergeant William Frank McKoin retired from the United States Air Force after serving 27 years of honorable service including the Korean conflict. He loved his country with a passion and considered all military, retired or active, his "brothers." He thanked each and every one he encountered for their service. He was proud that members of the McKoin clan had represented each military branch of service during his lifetime, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines.
A viewing will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 at O'Hair and Riggs Funeral Chapel, 515 Pine Street, Klamath Falls, Ore. A service with full military honors for William Frank McKoin will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Eagle Ridge National Cemetery.
