David Joseph O'Brien passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on Nov. 3, 2012, from mesothelioma.

He was born in Klamath Falls, Ore., in 1949.
David proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. He worked at Weyerhaeuser Co. for 24 years. He then graduated from Oregon Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in industrial management and worked over 17 years as a property tax manager at Jeld-Wen.
His passions were his family, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, building, bowling, baseball, following the OIT Owls basketball team with his mother, and traveling with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving mother Katherine Plaisted; his devoted wife Karen; his sons David and Shaun (Jessica) O'Brien; his daughters Teri (James) O'Brien-Marino and Brandi O'Brien-Utley; his step-son Chris (Amy) Gorum; and his step-daughter Kimberly (Iqbal) Ciaccia. David was blessed with seven grandchildren Gunner Fraley, Teri Utley, Trinity Gorum, and Kathryn, O'Neal, Serenity and Daniel O'Brien. He is also survived by his brother Nick Castriotta and two sisters Margaret Morrow and Ruth Castriotta.
David will be fondly remembered by many loving relatives and friends.
Services will be on Saturday, Nov. 10, in Shasta Way Christian Church, 5835 Shasta Way, at 2 p.m.
