Kristin LaRae Shimek, 41, passed away in Klamath Falls, on Nov. 7, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
She graduated from Mazama High School in 1989, graduated from Oregon State in 1993, and received her master's degree in Physical Therapy from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in California. She was a physical therapist in the Portland and Medford areas before starting her own PT business in Medford. She had a special gift for helping others through therapy and that became the main focus and joy of her life.
Music and camping with family were a big part of her life. She also enjoyed gardening and had her own botanical garden in the backyard of her home where she named every plant. She loved playing with her niece Isabel, and nephew Carson. She was always the crazy-fun aunt at the 4th of July, Halloween, Christmas, and most other fun kid moments. Her favorite vacation spot was Disneyland, where everyone can be a kid.
She is survived by her parents Betty and Harold Shimek; brother and sister-in-law David and Judy Shimek; niece and nephew, Isabel and Carson Shimek; aunts and uncles Carlene and Frank Bondeson, Ray and Darlene Shimek, Delores Shimek, Patricia Shimek, Judy Shimek, Jerold and Barbara Follmer, Roger Follmer; and numerous cousins.
A Service of Tribute and Love will be held at the Klamath Tribute Center, 6420 S 6th St, on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at 2 p.m. A Private Cremation was held at Eternal Hills Crematory. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or a .
