Floyd was born in Taney County, Mo., at Kirbyville on May 17, 1922. He was the youngest son of John William and Martha (Ellie) Edwards.
He was united in marriage with Audrey Marie Yandell on Aug. 9, 1941, in Ozark, Mo. To this union, three children were born with two surviving. One (James Floyd Edwards) preceded his father in death.

After his wife's untimely death in an auto/truck accident, Floyd married Alma Elsie Seay. They had a very happy life, lived in Nevada for a number of years, and prior to that traveled for a period of time with their motor home. However, they returned to live in Oregon, where Floyd lived at the time of his death.
