Bobbie Jean Grimes, 73, a former Nevada and Oregon resident, died in her home in Anderson, Calif., May 28, 2013.
Bobbie was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Riverside, Calif., to John D. Glenn and Vera M. Glenn.
She wore many hats in occupations over her lifetime and was successful at them all. She worked in many agricultural industries, such as potato, onion, hay, and cattle, alongside her former husband James E. Grimes and their children. Bobbie also worked for many years in the restaurant industry as both a waitress and an owner.
She was known to many as a hard and dedicated worker who had little restraint on speaking her mind at the drop of a hat. She was a true believer in the American Way. Her favorite saying was "If you didn't work for it, then you damn sure don't deserve it." Bobbie lived a full and colorful life from her work to her grandchildren and to her own family and friends. If you were lucky enough to have known her, you certainly were blessed. She loved to spend time with her family, over the years, tromping though the hills of California, Nevada and Oregon. She enjoyed crocheting, quilt making, and painting as her hobbies.
Bobbie is survived by her children, James K. Grimes, Myra J. Porter, Ginger L. Silva, and John D. Grimes as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
May her soul rest in peace in the house of the Lord. She will be missed.
Services were conducted in Redding, Calif., May 31, 2013, at Lawncrest Chapel.
