John Seymour was born in Klamath Falls Dec. 3, 1936 to Homer and Evangeline Depuy. Hissiblings included Phyllis, Homer, Jr. (Bus), Floradel, Shirley (all deceased) Jerry and Carolyn.
John grew up in Klamath County and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Upon graduation he joined the United States Air Force.
After leaving the Air Force John began working as a farmer and rancher and spent many years working for Ackley Ranch and Orem Ranch. At one period John and his uncle went into partnership together farming and ranching on their own.
John retired early due to a disability from a farming injury. He met and married his wife Mary in 1977. John has five daughters and one stepson: Terri, Vicki, Mary, Sheryl, Shelly and Chris. John has eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. The grandchildren's special memory of their grandfather is listening to a song he would play for them when he would be driving around with them or listening to music "Big Bad John." They especially enjoyed the trips they would go on with him and Mary, to the lake or the coast to name a couple places. Many special times and stories will always be remembered.
John has a large extended family which is too large to list that he was very fond of spending time with and reminiscing about farming, ranching, fishing or any topic of conversation.
His injury limited him from doing many of the activities he truly loved such as cultivating the land. He would drive around the Basin, looking at the crops and sharing his knowledge with his wife Mary about the crops. He was a master mechanic and quite good with wood working which he would occupy his time with remodeling his home or shop.
John requested no funeral services, which will be honored. A celebration of John's life will be for family and friends in the spring so the family members in military and out of town guests can join the family in celebrating John's life.
