On Aug. 12, 2016, Trevor Ward Monteith went home to be with his Lord and Savior after battling cancer with his mother and family by his bedside in San Mateo, Calif. Trevor was born on Jan. 9, 1973, to Hazel Erickson and Paul Montieth. He was an enrolled Klamath Tribal member. Trevor was raised in Fort Klamath, Ore., and attended school in Chiloquin, Ore., graduating with honors. One of those honors was receiving the Horatio Alger Scholarship to the University of Oregon. Trevor then went to Portland State University, where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in public administration and healthcare administration while working full time at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Ore. Trevor was employed at OHSU for 14 years as a human resources manager before accepting a position as a human resources manager at University of California's Davis Emergency Services in Sacramento, Calif., where he worked for two years. He then accepted a position for his "Dream Job" at Stanford University as a senior human resources manager for student affairs. Trevor enjoyed traveling. He traveled extensively with his travel companion Hazel, his beloved mother. He also loved gourmet cooking and baking wonderful pies and cakes for his friends and family. Trevor was an activist for social justice issues and humanity, and fair treatment for all. His first love was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed meeting new people and making friends, some of whom were lifelong friends. Trevor enjoyed his life and was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his intelligence, beautiful smile, quick wit and kindness. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul S. Monteith in May 2015. He is survived by his mother, Hazel G. Erickson; brother, Paul Monteith; sisters, Vanessa Henry and Monica Henry; grandmother, Velda Haskins; aunts; uncles; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends. A celebration of life service will be held in Chiloquin Christian Center on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at 1 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Wilson Cemetery, then a meal in Chiloquin Christian Center. Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, directors, at 2680 Memorial Drive, Klamath Falls, OR 97601, 541-883-3458, is in charge of the arrangements.
