DENISON - Ora Mae Burchfield, age 83, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WJN.
Mrs. Burchfield was born February 18, 1931 in Bristol, Texas the daughter of Charley Syndney and Ila (Lewis) Bates. Her parents were blessed as she was one of seven girls and five boys. They were all raised on a farm in Ellis County. She graduated from Palmer High School Class of 1948. She met the love of her life, Leroyce "Burch" Burchfield at church and they married December 2, 1950 in Ennis, Texas. Ora worked for Kress, Sears Roebuck and later 20 years for Republic Insurance. She loved flowers, vacations and helping young people. She was a faithful member of Faith Church in Sherman. Ora was a loving wife, mother and sister. She will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts forever.
Mrs. Burchfield leaves behind her beloved family: husband of 63 years, Leroyce Burchfield of Denison, TX; son, Larry Burchfield and daughters, Teresa Knika and Tajuana Loveless all of Arlington, TX; sister, Dot Clay of Ennis, TX and brother, Floyd Bates. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 at Faith Church with Rev. Glass officiating. Private interment will be held at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Arlington, Texas. Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Fisher Funeral Home.
