Roy Weldon Myers passed away on April 30, 2013 at his residence in Sherman with his family by his side. He was 88. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park of Sherman. Pastor Mark Wilhoite of Ft. Worth, TX will officiate.
Roy Weldon Myers was born on April 30, 1925 in Gunter to Jesse Myers and Hallie Hunt Myers. He graduated from Gunter High School. Roy and his father owned the Ice House in Van Alstyne. During his working years he also worked at Line Material in Sherman, and then later founded and retired from Myers Sales & Service Heating and Air Conditioning Company.
On June 3, 1946 Roy married the love of his life, Virginia Mulder in Van Alstyne. They were married for 67 wonderful years until her passing in 2012.
He was a member of North Park Baptist Church.
Roy entered the United States Navy in 1943 and served in World War II until 1946. He was onboard the USS Makin Island during this time.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Myers and Hallie Hunt Myers, wife Virginia Mulder Myers and great-grandson Bryce Hodge.
He is survived by his two daughters, Debbie Sasser and husband Ervin of Sherman, Martha Hariman and husband Jarrod of Gunter; granddaughters, Connie Hartwig and husband Lee of Sherman, Amy Gray and husband Tim of Luella, Angelia Smith and husband Justin of Marlow, Okla., Jennifer Barnes and husband Don of Sherman; great-grandchildren, Emily and Abby Hartwig of Sherman, Presley and Cason Gray of Luella, Kaydence Smith of Marlow, Okla., Austin Milligan and Harmony Barnes of Sherman; brother, Harold Myers and wife Corky of Blueridge.

Even though I didn't know Mr. Myers I would have liked to have thanked him for his time in the service of our Country. He is a true Hero!

Roy and Jean were my neighbors for 21 years. I don't think I have ever known such good,kind and caring people. Roy had the knowledge that can only come from years of living. I will miss you terribly. May God bless.
