DENISON - Billie Ruth Rice, age 77, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus Sunday, March 30, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Rice was born August 8, 1936 in Achille, Oklahoma the daughter of Cornelius Elijah and Laura May (Yarbough) Bohannan. She married the love of her life, Glen D. Rice October 2, 1954 in Achille, Oklahoma; from there she was a military wife for 20 years. Together they would travel on tour buses and make new friends. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, traveling, going on cruises and spending time with family and friends.
Billie worked at T.I. for 20 years until her retirement. Billie also enjoyed exercising and working at Weight Watchers in Sherman and Denison for the last ten years. She was always there encouraging others to meet their goals. An avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, OU Sooners and Dallas Mavericks. Billie was a faithful member of East Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 42 years. She will always be remembered for her kind, loving ways and sense of compassion for others. Billie lived a life of example and was loved and respected by all who crossed her path. She will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Rice leaves behind her beloved family; husband of 59 years, Glen Rice of Denison, TX, son, Donnie Rice and wife, Gail of Houston, TX, and daughter, Jennifer Huneycutt and husband, Douglas of Waco, TX and grandsons, Joshua Huneycutt of College Station, TX, Jordan Huneycutt of Dallas, TX and Nathan Rice of Houston, TX, brother, Donald Bohannan and wife, Twilla of Denison, TX and sister, Doris Sleeman of Euless, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Fisher Funeral Home with Brother Brett Castle officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Fisher Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Huneycutt, Joshua Huneycutt, Jordan Huneycutt, Donnie Rice, Nathan Rice and Donald Bohannan.
