Douglas Burgess

KEMP, Okla. - Douglas Byron Burgess 89, of Kemp, Okla. passed away Sunday December 15, 2013 at his home with his loving family at his side.

He was born March 12, 1924 in Denison, nd attended Denison schools. He was a B-24 Navigator in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Bobbie Turnbull September 4, 1948 in Denison, and was of the Methodist faith. He was an electrician for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Sadie McGee Burgess; sons, Ronald and Joe Burgess. Surviving is his wife Bobbie Burgess of the home in Kemp, Okla.; son, Barry Burgess and wife Dennise of Kemp, Okla.; sisters, Geraldine Coe of Denison and Patricia Boyd of Granbury; brother, Billy Burgess of Denison; grandchildren, Bailey Nassar and husband Greg, Baron Burgess and wife Eva, Dr. Tessa Manning and husband Sam Ty Burgess Blake Vaughn and wife Stormie and Levi Vaughn, nine great-granddaughters and nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Clare Turnbull and Olene Covey both of Kemp, Okla.; brothers-in-law, Harold Fox and wife Margie and Danny Watson and wife Dianne all of Kemp, Okla.

A funeral service for Douglas Byron Burgess will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning December 18, 2013 at Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert, Okla. with Walt Rambo officiating. Burial will follow in the Kemp Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derrick Little, Britton Covey, Jeff Covey, Shane Covey, Blake Vaughn and Michael Manry.

Family night will be 6 -7 Tuesday evening at the funeral home. The register book may be signed and online condolences be made at Arrangements have been entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert, Okla.
