Eileen Smith Wilcox, 67, went onto to her eternal resting place on December 23, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 31, 1946 in Temple, Texas to Minor Caldwell Smith, Sr. and Dotny (Conlisk) Smith.
Eileen spent her growing up years in Sherman. She received her associates degree from Del Mar Community College in secretarial science and her legal secretary certification from Southern Methodist University. She was employed with various branches of the U.S. Government over the past 20 years; most recently with the Department of Homeland Security at DFW Airport. Prior to that, she spent 10+ years at the FDIC. She loved to travel especially going on cruises, visiting Mexico, the Caribbean and any place with blue water and sandy beaches.
Eileen is survived by her two children, Bunny Hymer and husband David of Coppell, Tony Hughes and wife Tracey of Pleasanton, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Hillary Hughes, Matthew Hymer, Caroline Hughes, Rachel Hughes, Sarah Hymer, Claire Hughes, Abby Hymer, Ella Hughes, Faith Hughes and Samuel Hughes; two sisters, Rebecca Opel of Sherman and Amy Parker of Athens; one brother, Minor (Mike) Smith Jr. of Alaska; long-time companion, Kelley Cunningham of Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6 -8 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Restland Coppell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Restland Coppell Chapel.
