MIDWEST CITY, Okla. – A celebration of life for Mr. Ernest Gathron Sr., 80, of Midwest City, Okla, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday April 8, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Located at 3600 N. Kelly Avenue in Oklahoma City. Pastor Wendell Parker, will officiate.
Ernest S. Was born October18, 1932 in Colbert, Okla. the son of Jim and Willie Boykin. He received his education from the Colbert Public Schools. At the age of 25, Ernest enlisted into the United States Army
, where he proudly served his country. He worked as a Truck Driver for many years, then found employment with Midwest Machinery and eventually became self employed.
"Jack" as he was affectionately known, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends telling jokes and stories.
On Wednesday April 3, 2013, Ernest "Jack" Gathron Sr., moved from a life of labor, to an eternal life of reward. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; R.B. Brown, George Boykin, Cecil Boykin, J.A. Boykin and Ivory Joe Boykin, sister Pearlie McKay and one grandson.
Those left to cherish his memories are his sons, Ernest Gathron Jr., of Platter, Okla and Stephen Gathron of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughters, James Etta Brown and husband George of Wichita, Kan., Willie Ruth Campbell and husband Elliott, of Dallas, Terrie Gathron of Aurora, Colo., and Janice Webb and husband Wendell of Oklahoma City Okla.; stepchildren, Ruthetta , David, Charlene, Gwen, Anthony, Kathy, Laura, Laron, Carl and Janelle; brother, James Edward Brown, of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Colletta Meachum and husband Robert Jr., of Fort Worth; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; devoted companion, Anne Davis; and her children, Diana and Anthony, along with many other relatives and friends. The Gathron Family is under the Personal care of the Cravens Funeral Home in Sherman.
