Gregory Wayne Lankford

WHITESBORO - A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the Whitesboro public library meeting room.

Greg was born in 1958 in Big Spring to Wayne and Sylvia Lankford. Greg served his country in the United States Navy and spent most of his time aboard the guided missile armed destroyer the USS Waddell. Greg was a mechanic by trade and worked primarily on large equipment in the North Texas area. Greg had a passion for motorcycles and enjoyed riding, restoring and talking to anyone who would listen about his motorcycles.

Greg fought his battle with lung cancer with a grace, dignity, courage and resolve that moved and inspired all of those who were close to him. Greg had many people who were involved with his recovery and he was most thankful for the support that he received.

Greg is survived by his wife Violet; his ex-wife, Bobby Killian; adopted son, Drew Chronister; brother, Brad Lankford and Brad's wife Shelli; his nephews, Andrew Lankford and Austin Lankford; and his aunt, Joyce Merrick.

Preceding Greg in death are his mother, Sylvia Lankford; and his father, Wayne Lankford.
