Jacqueline Peters(1936-2012)

DENISON - Jacqueline Ann (Jackie) Peters of Denison, retired Denison ISD administrator, died on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at Legacy Assisted Living at the age of 76. A memorial service with Holy Communion is scheduled at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Sherman on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at 3 p.m. Rev. Martin Yost will officiate.

Cremation arrangements are being made by Bratcher Funeral Home, Denison, and interment of ashes will take place in St. Stephen's Columbarium in Sherman, Texas.

Jackie was born Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the daughter of Jack and Virginia Compton. She married Kenneth Peters in Durant, Okla., on Aug. 17, 1955. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Sherman and retired educator who was employed in the Denison ISD from 1979 – 1996, and in the Durant Public Schools from 1965 – 1979. She was also employed as a seasonal tax preparer after her retirement from a career in education. In the Denison ISD she served as high school assistant principal, high school principal, elementary principal, substitute mayor and secondary curriculum director.

Survivors (in addition to husband Kenneth) include a daughter, Cheryl Nan Phelps of Hollister, Calif.; a granddaughter, Ivy Phelps of Hollister; a grandson, Ryland Phelps of Hollister; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Tom Vickers of Durant, Okla.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the DISD Education Foundation, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Sherman, Texas.
