James David Dancer, 60, passed away November 8, 2012.
James David Dancer was born to James William and Mary Edith Latham Dancer September 13, 1952 in Florence, Ariz. The family soon moved to California and Jim grew up in the city of Norwalk. He was a happy child and graduated from Excellsior High School in 1972. He entered the Navy in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1974 after receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He grew into a wonderful man, husband, son and father. His loving, generous, humorous nature made him welcome wherever he went. He was happiest when he was helping others even with yard work and home repairs. He married Robin Janette Crafts on May 18, 1980. In 1985 Robin gave birth to their son James Aaron Dancer. They lived in southern California until 1998 when Jim's job transferred them to Medford, Oregon. In 2003 the family moved again, this time to Denison, Texas to be near Jim's family in Durant, Oklahoma. He enjoyed playing games on his computer and building Legos with his grandson. He also liked to play both 42 and train domino games. He enjoyed working as a rural route associate with the Denison Post Office. In his 6 years there he made good friends of his coworkers and customers.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Dancer; their son, James Aaron Dancer; daughter-in-law, Jaimie Dancer; grandsons, Zach Michael Gervenak and James William Dancer II; his parents, James William Dancer and Mary Edith Dancer and his brother; Kevin Jay Dancer; his uncle; Jack Dancer and many, many cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, November 12 at South Side Baptist Church.
