James Maurice Reeves

RANDOLPH - Funeral services for James Maurice Reeves, 85, of Randolph, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, Randolph, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. David Brackett and grandson, Rev. Daniel Caldwell will officiate. Burial with U.S. Naval honors will follow in Randolph-Lindsey Cemetery. Mr. Reeves passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Reeves was born August 28, 1928 in Colbert, Okla., the son of Ira Fulton Reeves and Eula Lee Williford Reeves. Mr. Reeves was a United States veteran serving in the Army and Navy. He later married Sandra Jean Farmer on April 12, 1952 in Denison, and she preceded him in death on January 28, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his son, Larry Maurice Reeves on March 25, 2005 and his siblings Howard Reeves, Vernon Reeves and Nancy Nix.

He was a member of the Ashley Masonic Lodge 681 and member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Randolph. He owned and operated Maurice Reeves & Son Plumbing Co. in Farmers Branch, and enjoyed gardening, especially caring for his roses.

He is survived by daughter, Kristi Bridgwater, and husband David of Randolph; grandchildren, Daniel Caldwell of Randolph Carrie Reeves of Santa Monica Calif., and Lori and Jason Barenfeld of Hermosa Beach Calif.; great-granddaughter, Kai Barenfeld of Hermosa Calif.; siblings, Virgie Reynolds of Farmers Branch, Hoss and Billie Reeves of Cartwright Okla., Sonny and Jimmie Reeves of Cartwright Okla., Ina and Hal Simmons of Albuquerque N.M., and Jim Reeves of Dallas.
