VAN ALSTYNE - On Friday, April 4, 2014 Johnny Stanley passed away after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on October 20, 1957, the eldest of twin boys, to Bob Stanley and Shirley Adams Stanley.
Johnny grew up and attended schools in Sherman. He attended church at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He married Lora Fincher on August 1, 1982. They had two sons. Prior to his illness, he worked as a truck driver for Jerry's Trash Service in Van Alstyne. Previous employment included Billy's Country Trash, AAA Little John and Discount Steel Service. In addition to commercial driving, he was also a certified welder.
Johnny will be remembered most for the simplicity in which he lived his life. He never desired to leave his hometown or his family. He was happy working, coming home and going to karaoke at the Elks Lodge
on Friday nights. To him, Sundays were meant for visiting family he hadn't seen all week.
He is survived by two sons, Aaron Stanley of Cleburne and Darrin Stanley, wife Kaylen, of Sweetwater; mother, Shirley Richardson, of Whitewright; sisters, Connie Stanley of Sherman, and Deborah Stanley, of Bells; twin brother, Ronny Stanley, wife Melissa, of Rogers, Ariz.; brothers, Terry Stanley, Rodney Stanley, Mark Gann, and Mike Gann of Sherman; two grandchildren, Emma Robinson and Jayden Stanley of Sweetwater; and ten nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Stanley, mother, Dolores Stanley, and his son, Michael Gunter.
At his request, no funeral arrangements are scheduled.
Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
