SHERMAN - Reverend Jonathan Efird Faggart, 55, passed away Tuesday March 11 at his home in Sherman. A memorial funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday March 15 at Harvest Time Assembly of God, Sherman, Texas.
Additional memorial funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday March 23 at Faith Assembly of God, Orlando, FL and at 10 a.m. Saturday March 29 at First Assembly of God, Concord, N.C.
Pastor Jonathan was born November 28, 1958 in Concord, N.C. to Parks Ray Faggart and Peggy Efird Faggart. He graduated from Concord, N.C. High School, Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. and Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, N.Y. Jonathan won the MNTA National Collegiate Artist Competition in Organ and was a featured performer on PBS.
Pastor Jonathan was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He served as worship pastor at First Assembly of God, Concord, N.C. and Faith Assembly of God, Orlando, Fla.; as associate pastor at Crosswalk Community Church, Williamsburg, Va.; and as senior pastor of Harvest Time Assembly of God, Sherman, Texas. He also served in the Assemblies of God as Pen FL District Music Director, as National Music Committee Member, as Red River Section Committee Member, and as a National Fine Arts adjudicator.
He led missions outreaches with his choirs to various countries. He mentored music ministers through Music Pastor's Institute and the Heart of Worship Conference, both of which he founded. Jonathan is remembered for his deep relationship with God, his love for his family, and his passion for everyone to be in relationship with the Lord. Jonathan's great gifting in music and his joy for Christmas, Disney World and the beach set him apart.
Pastor Faggart is survived by his wife of 31 years, Janet (Bruner) Faggart of Sherman; daughter, Katrina Elizabeth (Faggart) Stockton and husband Blake Edward Stockton of Sherman; son, Jonathan Ryan Faggart of Rolla, Mo.; granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Stockton of Sherman; brother, Jeffrey Parks Faggart and wife Clare Cook Faggart of Concord, N.C.; sister, Janet (Faggart) Ashley of Smithville, N.C.; parents, Parks Ray Faggart and Peggy Efird Faggart of Concord; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darrell A. Bruner and Dorothy J. (Lebeda) Bruner; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Kent A. Bruner and wife Jennifer Arnold Bruner of Milton, Ga. and Darrin W. Bruner and wife Cynthia (Murlin) Bruner of Gunter, Texas; and five nieces and nephews, Wallace Ashley and Elizabeth Ashley of Smithville, Chase Bruner of Milton, Ga., and Emily Bruner and Ashley Bruner of Gunter.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Wallace Ashley III.
