SHERMAN - Keith passed away in his sleep at 11:16 a.m., June 29, 2013 at Traditions Assisted Living in Sherman.
Keith was born January 14, 1933 in Western North Carolina, Swannanoa. He was the son of the now deceased Rev. Major Detroit Gant and Louise Parham Gant.
While stationed at Perrin Air Force Base, Sherman, he met and married Dolores Ann Phelps on June 26, 1955. Keith surrendered his life to the ministry in the late 1950s. He served as pastor in several Grayson County Churches for 21 years. Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."
God added greatly; a loving wife, Dolores Ann Phelps Gant; two loving sons, Barry Keith Gant and Gaylin Lee Gant; two outstanding daughter-in-laws, Mitzi Ann Gant and Cathy Diane Gant; two fantastic grandchildren, Ryan Jordan Gant and Emily Ann Gant.
Keith leaves behind his wife, Dolores of Sherman; son, Barry and Cathy Gant; son Gaylin and Mitzi Gant all of Sherman; sister, Ellen Cheek of Greensboro, N.C.; brother, Don and Betty Gant of Plantation, Fla.; sister-in-law, Peggy Gant of Swannanoa, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews; grandson Ryan Jordan Gant of Addison; granddaughter, Emily Ann Gant of Sherman.
A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at North Park Baptist Church in Sherman.
Keith had three wishes at the time of his death; 1. He wanted to be cremated. 2. Laughter at his funeral. 3. No plants or flowers, his wish was to send a donation to NPB Church Building Fund in memory of him or to Hospice Plus in Sherman.
