DENISON - Mary Bird, 90, left this world Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Homestead of Denison.
Mrs. Bird was born August 29, 1921 in Brownwood, Texas the daughter of Lewis and Tennie (Stanley) Wood. She married Edcar L. Bird March 2, 1940 in Brady, Texas. Mary was baptized at the age of 12, in the Baptist faith and enjoyed attending services at Trinity Lighthouse Church with her daughter. She told many humorous stories from life on the West Texas ranch to feeding soldiers in a World War II convoy. One could tell from these stories that she loved life and lived every day to it's fullest. She will be greatly missed by all who were given the gift of her love and friendship.
Mrs. Bird is survived by her loving family, daughter, Linda Solomon of Denison, Texas; and son, David L. Bird and wife, Lynn of Smyrna, Tenn.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Tally of Snyder, Texas and Sharron Morris and husband, Charles of Post, Texas; brother-in-law, H. F. Bird and wife, Oleta of Achille, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edcar Bird, son, Terry Bird, granddaughter, Diane Bird, parents, Lewis and Tennie Wood and brothers, Lewis Wood Jr. and Jerry L. Wood.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Rosewood Cemetery in Achille, Okla. Family visitation will be held from 6 -8 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Fisher Funeral Home.
