Mary Mae (Newberg) Simpson(1923-2012)

CORSICANA - Our beloved Mary left us on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, but she will forever remain a part of us. Born Mary Mae Newberg on Oct. 23, 1923 to Benjamin E. and Eva Newberg in Ft. Worth. She was a graduate of Paschal High School in Ft. Worth. Mary married Z. L. Simpson in Ft. Worth on Jan. 17, 1959 and together they shared a full and adventuresome life for 53 wonderful years. While she worked side by side with her husband in his home building business for many years, her primary role was as homemaker and mother, at which she excelled.

Mother to seven, grandmother to 12, great-grandmother to 27, and friend to many, Mary was always ready with an open heart, listening ear, good counsel, and inevitably, good food.

Her door was always open and she was always available to help with any project that needed a hand. She was warm and witty with a mischievous smile and twinkling eye; her laughter was contagious. Mary bravely shouldered whatever need or adventure or tribulation life put before her, everwhile remaining a true compass to herself and her family and friends.

She was a beautiful person both inside and out; she loved deeply, and she was loved deeply. Those of us who knew her will miss her greatly; those who didn't know her will miss not having had the chance.

Mary was preceded in death by her infant sister, her parents, her husband, her firstborn child, Diane Johnstone, and son-in-law, Kuno Doerr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Colleyville, 817-498-5894. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the .
