Melvin Michael McBride

Melvin Michael "Mike" McBride passed away November 20, 2013 in Shreveport, Louisiana after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born December 16, 1944 in Sherman to Mildred and J D McBride, Mike worked for the railroad for almost 45 years, first with the Katy in Denison and various other Katy depots and then moved to Omaha, Nebraska with the Union Pacific. He moved to Shreveport after retirement. Mike was a graduate of Denison High School, class of 1963. He served in the United States Army 101st Airborne, and completed a tour in Vietnam during 1969/70.

He is survived by his sister Barbara Couch and husband Michael Couch of Shreveport, La.; niece, Jennifer and husband David Duhaime of Dallas; and nephew, Chris Couch and wife Sharon of New Orleans, as well as many beloved cousins and friends.

Mike loved the railroad and was a friend to all.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and J.D. McBride.

Services will be held at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison, Friday November, 22 2013 with visitation at 2 p.m. and service at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Denison. Dr. Chet Haney will officiate.
