DENISON - Richard Ewing Adams Jr. of Denison died suddenly of a massive heart attack on October 24, 2013.
R.E., as he was known to his friends, was born on September 2, 1931 on the Adams Ranch in Medina. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Dr. Donna Finch Adams whom he cherished as friend, lover, partner, and fellow traveler. He is also survived by his children: daughter, Donna Marguerite Adams, DVM; daughter, Mary Kathleen Adams; and son, William Bryson Adams.
His parents were Richard Ewing Adams, Sr. and Arilla Crawford Adams. He had two sisters, Loleen Stevens (deceased) and Florence Eva Gifford.
He was an extraordinary man who transformed his life from rural ranch beginnings to patron of the arts and world traveler. In high school, he was all-state champion in basketball, football, baseball and track. In college, he played on the Texas A&M varsity football team. At age 82, he was still working on perfecting his golf swing.
He was bold enough to dream of a different life and had the courage to make it happen. His accomplishments include but are not limited to the degrees he earned from Lamar University in Beaumont in business management and industrial engineering. He began his career in 1961 at Collins Radio in Richardson, and eventually started his own home-building business, Construction Techtronics, as well as getting his real estate broker/appraiser accreditation.
His legacy to us is to support and love each other and to follow our dreams. In lieu of flowers, please remember R.E. by donating to Best Friends Sanctuary http://bestfriends.org/The-Sanctuary/explore-the-sanctuary/.
