Robert Ellis Bentley, 67, died Dec. 21, 2010 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Dannel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 29 from 5-7 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home of Sue Caylor afterwards, followed by a wake at the Rendezvous Club, located at 2111 Texoma Parkway in Sherman.
Robert was born in Sherman on July 22, 1943 to Richard and Rowena (Ezell) Bentley. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1961 and then attended two years of college while working with his father as a painting contractor in the family business. He was a painting contractor all of his working life. On June 26, 1964, he married Renee Grigg in Sherman.
Robert was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed raising chickens and going fishing whenever possible. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by sons, Jodie Bentley and wife Tumen and Chad Bentley and wife Tamra, all of Hot Springs, Ark.; a daughter, Elizabeth Haney and husband Tim of Denison; seven grandchildren, Jared Hill, Kelsey Hill-Haney, Ella Haney, Gordon Bentley, Nathaniel Bentley, Joshua Bentley, and Sydni Bentley; two great-grandchildren, Julien Hill and Jamie Hill; sisters, Judy Furr of Denison and Betty Joiner and husband Joe of Montgomery; and Robert's twin sister Sue Taylor and husband Bill of Denison.
