He and his wife moved to Mead, Okla. in June 1989. He loved to fish. He was on the water early morning hours and late afternoons when the temperatures were cooler. He was proud of the BIG one that didn't get away. He would stop at the local store to buy slabs, which was one of his favorite lures. Then he decided to make his own slabs. Hence, PrunePicker Slabs. He had a very good technique of how to slab for the fish. In 1999, he wanted to start keeping track of where the fishing sweet spots were and decided to create a website, not thinking that anyone would ever read it. The name of the site is "sixoldgeezers.com."
The site is about fishing at Lake Texoma. Many fishermen started reading and posting their news on the site. From this site, many many friendships were developed through the years. With the dedication of the many viewers of the site, there were fundraisers to help the Oklahoma and Texas Wildlife departments purchase new workboats, trailers, and motors. As of this date there have been more than 3 million views on the website.
He served as a volunteer firefighter
, and as treasurer on the Board of Directors at the West Bryan County Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department.
He will truly be missed.
