Thomas Badgett(1922-2012)

POTTSBORO – Funeral Services for Thomas Emil Badgett Sr., 89, who died Sunday, May 6, 2012, will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro, with Rev. Bobby Hancock and Rev. Carl Bilderback officiating. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro.

Mr. Badgett was born September 15, 1922 in Denison, the son of Roscoe C. and Ellen Spaulding Badgett. He was a graduate of Denison High School. He married Rama Fawcett in October of 1947 in Lebanon, Mo.; she preceded him in death in 1995.

He entered into the Army-Air Force on October 20, 1942; served in World War II and was discharged in 1946 as a sergeant. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Medal and many other honors. He went on to work for C&H Transportation driving a truck and as a dispatcher at Johns Mansfield where he retired in 1986.

Tommy was very active in Kiwanis. He not only served as president, but also received outstanding Kiwanian of the year, faithful member and respected member. He was very proud of his service with them. He was also a former school board member of Pottsboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rama Badgett, parents and sister Lydia.

Survivors include his six sons, Tommy Badgett Jr. and wife Linda, Randy Badgett, Tracy Badgett and his wife Sheila all of Pottsboro, Terry Badgett and his wife Valerie of Denison, Ross Badgett and his wife Val of Palestine, Van Badgett and his wife Alice of Keller; sister Eileen of Arizona; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

The following pallbearers will carry the casket from the church to the hearse: Horace Groff, Terry Jones, Buck Davis, Karl Cole, Don Gladney and Troy Hanes. Tommy's sons, Tommy, Jr., Randy, Tracy, Terry, Ross and Van will carry the casket from the hearse to the gravesite.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Georgetown Baptist Church, 207 Georgetown Road, Pottsboro, TX 75076 or Home Hospice of Grayson County, 505 W. Center, Sherman, TX 75090.
