Vernon Alvin Pollock(1926 - 2013)

Vernon Alvin Pollock, born 2/28/1926 in Van West, Ohio and passed away 12/29/2013 at Sherman Health Center.

He proudly served in the Navy as a Coxswain during WW2 aboard USS LST 562 from 1942-1946 and was at the helm of the ship during invasions.

He loved breaking, training and racing horses.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Pollock of Van Wert, Ohio; and son, Dennis Polk of Ooltewah,Tennessee.

Survived by his wife, Anna Marie Pollock of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Vicki Rice of Carrollton, Texas; son, David Pollock and wife, Becca of Mansfield, Texas; stepsons, Clem Lavender and wife, Jeannie of Sherman, Mark Chambers and wife, Randi of Norman, Okla., Charles Lavender of Decatur, Texas and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held March 21, 2014 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at 1:30 p.m.
