Berniece Youree Obituary

SHERMAN - Funeral services for Berniece Ruth Martin Youree will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 23 at Forest Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. James Heffington of the church will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla., with Brian Roland, Eric Bernard, Chuck Enders, John Thompson, Logan Youree, Seth Ludeman, Bryan Youree, and Randy Jeffers serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Youree, 92, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Sherman.

Berniece was born September 18, 1919, in Bentley, Okla. to the late Van Buren and Josie (Walls) Martin. She graduated from Utica, Oklahoma schools as Valedictorian in 1939. On February 11, 1942, Berniece and Eugene Youree were married in Milburn, Okla. Mrs. Youree worked as a substitute teacher at Plainview schools in Ardmore, Okla. They moved to Sherman and Berniece worked at Poole Manufacturing and Johnson & Johnson for three years. She then went to work at Texas Instruments as an electronics assembler, retiring in 1980.

Mrs. Youree has been a member of the Forest Avenue Baptist Church since January 1971 where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also served as the secretary of the Adult 6 Sunday School Department and was active in the choir for several years.

Mrs. Youree or "Granny" as she was affectionately known by family and friends is survived by her husband of 69 years, Eugene of Sherman; two sons, Gary and wife Elaine of Heavener, Oklahoma and Lanny and wife Lisa of Denison; two daughters, Becky Enders and husband John of Sherman, and Paula Youree of Denison; grandchildren, Andrea Rainey, Christi Thompson and husband John, Bryan Youree and wife Emily, Christi Ludeman and husband Seth, Melissa Pfahl and husband John, Logan Youree, Micah Killough and wife Kim, Chuck Enders, Hollie Bernard and husband Eric, Beckey Jeffers and husband Randy, and Lacy Roland and husband Brian; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Van and Josie Martin and 16 brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County at 505 W. Center Sherman, TX 75090 or Forest Avenue Baptist Church at 106 W. Forest, Sherman, TX 75090.

The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Grayson Home Health and Home Hospice of Grayson County for their loving care over the last two months.
